Kiosk mode: a locked check-in station

Kiosk mode is coming soon. Once it's live, it will turn any device into a dedicated check-in station: locked to scanning, bound to one location, and switchable between staff by PIN. Until then, the camera scanner and any hardware scanner cover the door.

How setting up a kiosk will work

  1. 1An owner or manager will open Kiosk mode on the device and authorize it - this will bind the device to the location.
  2. 2The device will lock to the scan screen; the rest of the app will be inaccessible.
  3. 3Staff will switch in with their personal kiosk PIN, so every scan is attributed to a person.

Good to know: Every staff member will get a kiosk PIN - including email-login staff. Managers will be able to reveal or reset a PIN from the Staff screen; reveals will be audited.

Why PINs beat shared logins

Shared passwords end up on sticky notes and outlive departures. PINs will be personal, instantly resettable, and keep your check-in history attributable - you'll always know who let whom in.
